How many dentists are there in the world as of now?

There is no actual recent figure that gives a specific number, but the countries with the highest number of dentist in the world are India, Japan, Italy, and France. In 2016, just under three years ago, India close to 200,000 practicing dentist, and then behind India, Japan had almost 101,000 practicing dentist. Italy has almost 48,000 dentist and finally France has about 43,000 dentist.

Other nations that have a high number of dentists include the United Kingdom (35,000), Spain (33300), Islamic Republic of Islam (27800), Ukraine (27,000), Turkey (24840), and Republic of Korea (24,150). Granted, the field of dentistry has grown to encompass more professions including the orthodontist, so within these numbers they are including dental technicians, dental hygienist, and dental therapist. The field has become quite popular in recent years with dental tourism (people traveling to different countries to have their teeth corrected) becoming a rapidly growing field around the world.
