What properties would you expect the patient's urine to have?
After examining a patients urine, a physician has come to the conclusion that the patient is dehydrated and does NOT have diabetes mellitus.



A. The urine is light yellow and has a specific gravity less than 1.035.
B. The urine is dark yellow and has a specific gravity greater than 1.035.

Because it is concentrated due to dehydration. Less water means more particulates closer together,

I understand the specific gravity part, but if the patient is dehydrated, why is urine dark yellow?

Dehydration means that the person has too little water. This causes the urine to become more concentrated and show up as dark yellow.
