The moral is not very clear in this story because even if you see Jack as a hero in the story, how can you justify the continued theft Jack committed against the Ogre? Jack seems to be rewarded in the end simply because this story is for children and usually a happy ending is expected. Remember that not all stories have morals, and this story seems to be one of them.
