Milk is probably the most well-known calcium source. However, there are also foods that contain calcium in case you are lactose intolerant or you just can’t have milk. The food that contains the most abundant source of calcium that the body can take in is probably firm tofu. It contains well over the amount that the body needs in one day if you ate a cup of it.

However, tofu does not have a lot of taste to it. Therefore, it is suggested that this tofu be put or mixed with something else. Keep in mind that this is a certain type of tofu. Not every tofu has that much calcium in it. This tofu is made with calcium sulfate which is why it has so much calcium in it.

Foods already in your diet I am sure are cheese and cheese based meals. Tofu, yoghurt and milk are high in calcium and so are the following: sardines, canned salmon, seafood, leafy greens, legumes, dried fruit. If you are having several of these every day, and all of them several times a month, your diet is probably adequate in calcium.

You are right to check, though, as many people using fast food have a low calcium intake.Beans, lentils and whey products are also high in calcium and surprisingly, rhubarb. That may not be in your usual diet so it's something you might add.

Milk anddairy products are great sources of calcium. To many, these are the only sources of calcium but it will amaze you to know that they are many non diary food products that are equally rich in calcium.

Fish bones such as salmon and sardines are also rich sources of calcium.
Dark-green,leafy vegetables, and seeds are great sources of calcium.

Fruits such as Oranges, raspberries, strawberries and black berries are few fruits that have abundant calcium.
Lentils, oatmeal, black eyed peas and almonds are also rich in calcium.

Calcium is important for the normal functioning of varoius parts of the human body. Check out the recommended daily dose of calcium for your age and begin to incorporate these foods in your diet.
