A trichologist is a specialist trained in the diagnosis and treatment of hair and scalp problems such as hair breakage, oily scalp and hair loss. They also provide support and advice for people with hair conditions like trichotillomania and alopecia.

A trichologist is a specialist trained in the diagnosis and treatment of hair and scalp problems

They work by making a thorough physical examination on the hair and scalp; they take a full medical history of the patient to find out the problem and the possible cause.

After making a diagnosis, the trichologist is going to recommend the best treatment for the patient’s condition. If the trichologist finds out that the problem is caused by an underlying medical condition, the trichologist will refer the patient to a physician.
