At the time of the American Revolutionary War, the colonies were young and hadn’t fought many fights compared to Great Britain who had an established and well-trained military. It seemed as if David was going against Goliath.

There was no way that the colonies would win the war against a powerhouse such as Great Britain. Many other countries did not want to help the colonies because they felt that it would cause a backlash from Great Britain.

Instead, they waited to see what would happen. Washington trained his troops the best he could. Then he enlisted the help of others including French military leaders to help train his army so that they could win battles. The French would eventually help out and help the colonies win the war.
