No, it is not the heart that has any emotional feelings. Its job is to circulate the blood around the body and keep ticking regularly. The strong emotions that are experienced as almost pains within the body stem from the solar plexus.

However, there are neurons in the ventricle of the heart as well as in the brain. It is the neurons where thought occurs. The thoughts in the brain may cause the heart to pump faster, so that it appears that emotional feelings occur within the heart.

The nervous system is highly involved too. What happens in a case where love, hurt to the loving feelings or events such as these is a communication between the parasympathetic nervous system, the brain and the neurons within the heart causing increases and decreases in the rate a heart pumps.
