There are a lot of people who think that All Hollows Eve is just an opportunity to wear different costumes and just have fun with their friends. This is not called All Saints Eve for a reason. This is the day before All Saints Day which is November 1. Therefore, it is the eve of this day. All Saints Day is said to be a Christian holiday.

People would need to wear costumes the day before in order to ward off evil spirits. There are a lot of people before who dressed up as saints and they would go from one door to another in order to spread positiveness to different people.
