Is it true that uranus is similar to jupiter?

These two planets are not very similar. Jupiter is what would be considered as a gas giant because it contains mostly gases. This is made of hydrogen and helium with hydrogen taking up most of its gas content. Uranus, on the other hand, is an icy planet. This is also composed of hydrogen but it only takes up 20% of the planet’s total atmosphere. The rest of the planet is made out of water and ice.

These components are not readily available in Jupiter. They are also very different in terms of appearance. There was a time when Uranus was also considered a gas giant but further explorations have made it become categorized together with Neptune instead of Jupiter and Saturn.
