New scholars question the authenticity of the book of Ezekiel because it names him as a priest as well as a prophet. In the Old Testament it was known that prophets could be the descendants of the priests but once attaining prophet hood they were declared as prophets. However, in the book of Ezekiel, the two words are used interchangeably that raises questions to its authenticity.

Also, some verses are known to be changed which further raises the issue of how authentic the currently known book of Ezekiel really is. Unless completely sure of its ancestry, the scholars refuse to believe its teachings and its authenticity.
