It happens because of a method of heat transfer known as conduction. Usually, when the heat is applied to a matter, it causes all the atoms and molecules in it to move. As these atoms or molecules move, they also come in contact with other molecules. As a result of this collision, these molecules also move.

This process goes on until heat is transferred to all the atoms or molecules in a matter. It explains why the heat coming from a source does not only affect the bottom of a pot but the entire part of the pot, including the handle.

As the bottom of the pot begins to receive the heat from the burner, the molecules at the bottom of the pot begin to move. As they move, they also collide with molecules in other parts of the pot until the molecules collide with the ones in the handle.

The correct answer to this question is Conduction. There are two types of conduction. The first is heat conduction. This type of conduction occurs between two objects and the objects have contact with each other. The heat energy in object moves from one another.

When the conduction occurs, the heat energy will travel from a hot area to a cold area. Then, temperature heat will even out. This is why the heat from the bottom of the pot will move up to the handle of the pot. Another type of conduction is electrical conduction. This type of conduction is through cables and wires.

The answer to this is conduction. The heat from the pot will usually come from a heat source. Most of the time, it is the cooking range. From the bottom of the pot that will eventually envelop the whole pot, the heat will then transfer to its handles. Take note that if you have handles that will not conduct heat, then you do not have to worry about using cooking mittens all the time.

If you do hold the pot while it is hot, you might get burned. The other ways that heat can travel are through radiation and convection. Radiation may transfer the heat through the unique waves that it produces. In convection, the liquid is required in order for the heat transfer to take place.
