Flavin adenine dinucleotide is associated with many different types of proteins. These proteins are then involved with metabolism reactions.

The chemical formula of Flavin adenine dinucleotide is C27 H33 N9 O15 P2. It has a molar mass of 785.557g and will look like a white crystal. Flavin adenine dinucleotide was discovered in 1879 when the components of cow milk were separated. Due to its yellow appearance, the original name was lactochrome.
