Mitosis is considered to be of benefit as it creates copies that are identical to the original copies. This also enables the skin of a man to be made of an identical cell, as well as our livers. Also, it enables the plants to produce leaves with identical properties in a large quantity.

Some plants and single-cell organisms do not sexually reproduce through meiosis. Hence, they make use of the mitosis medium only, which makes them have the same copies of their cells. There is a disadvantage to this also, in the sense that all the plants in an area or the organisms in a particular population would have the same DNA. And in case of any disease overcoming one of the plants or organisms, then the remaining population would suffer from the same disease also. In mitosis, there is no chance for the organism to produce any variation. This simply means that the offsprings cannot be of a better breed than the parents.

You may want to get to know the advantages and disadvantages of mitosis but it will be useful to know what this is. Mitosis is known as one of the cell processes that are in charge of creating identical copies of the cells that we already have in our body or the “original cells.” Mitosis is going to be helpful for the development and growth of the cells. This is also going to be useful for cell replacement.

Lastly, this will also be helpful for asexual production. One disadvantage of mitosis is that you cannot find diversity. Another disadvantage is that there is a higher possibility of extinction if this is the only cell process that would be done. It may also have a higher chance of not being able to adapt.

Some of the advantages of mitosis include rapid populating. Mitosis makes it possible for offspring to be reproduced in large quantities, filling up niches quickly, preventing competition and intruders from invading. Another advantage is that no mate is necessary to accomplish reproduction.

Mitosis eliminates the need to search for a mate, as it helps organisms reproduce independently. Mitosis does not require too much time or energy for offspring to be produced. The disadvantages of mitosis include a lack of diversity.

Since only one parent's traits are passed on to offspring, they are indistinguishable in every way, which causes a lack of diversity among the population. It is also difficult to adjust. Whatever organisms might have adapted to are the same stimuli that will get passed down to the offspring, and nothing is new or changed. It also elevates the risk of extinction. Having similar traits makes the weaknesses within the species the same.

Advantage-fast reproduction (take advantage of hospitable host) Disadvantage-no genetic diversity
