The genus Acinonyx is known for containing the cheetah. There are subspecies of this genus and they include the different types of cheetahs. The first type is called the Tanzanian cheetah. It is located in the eastern area of Africa. The next type is called the Sudan cheetah which is obviously found in the Sudan. Both of these two cheetahs look alike, so they may be difficult to identify which cheetah it is.

The third type of cheetah is the South African cheetah. This cheetah has been threatened due to the problems in the area. The fourth cheetah is known as the Northwest African cheetah. The last cheetah is the only one not located in Africa. This one is called the Asiatic cheetah and is found near the Arabian Peninsula.
