Orientalism is a designation used by art historians and literary and cultural studies scholars for the simulated or depicted aspects of Middle Eastern, South Asian, and East Asian cultures. Orientalism excludes all but British, French, and Arabs.

Many cultures are disregarded within this particular worldview. Orientalism refers to a general patronizing Western attitude towards other cultures. It is often a justification for Western superiority, and the beliefs. Examples of orientalism include the frequent ordering of executions at the slightest offense, extravagant military outfits, and ridiculous mock Arab accents.
