A motel is designed for motorist. Motel is commonly use by travellers, they are built for short stay. It was first recognized in 1925. It is mostly located in remote areas. Motels usually have one or two floor layout and the guest can easily access the parking lot from their rooms.

Hotel was first used in 1765, hotel refers to a place that provides accommodation, food, entertainment and much more. The word hotel orignated from 'townhouse'. Hotel contains hundreds of rooms. It is designed for longer stays, most hotels are located in cities, they offer more services, they also have facilities for events and conferences. They are much more expensive. Hotel are classy unlike motels that are most times old fashioned.
