What assessment would NOT be appropriate to test for a visual field deficit? Neurological: An OTR has been working with a client who is recovering from a CVA.  The OTR suspects that the client may have a visual field deficit. 



A. Confrontation testing-the client focuses on a central target and indicates when they see objects placed in each of the four visual quadrants
B. The Visual Skills for Reading Test- the client is asked to look straight ahead and read single words that may be commonly mistaken. (shot can be read as hot)
C. Clinical observation of eye movement looking for symmetry and eye position.
D. Clinical observation of the client performing ADL s looking for misplacing items or changing head position when looking or working in a particular plane

Clinical observation of eye movement looking for symmetry and eye position.

ANSWER: c. This test would give information about oculomotor function, not information about visual field deficit. Occupational Therapy: Practice skills for physical dysfunction, 6th ed. ch. 23
