The Lord’s Prayer is a written prayer that is said to the letter in most Catholic, Baptist, and Anglican churches. It is a prayer that was given by Jesus Christ in the New Testament (found in Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-4 in most translations of the Bible) as an example of how to pray when his disciples asked for such an example.

Most Christian denominations say it regularly as a way to repent for sin or as a way to express gratefulness to Christ for what they have. It all depends on how the clergy feel about recitation prayers, where members recite a prayer found in scripture word for word, and their place in worship of this nature.
