The response of vision to the wavelength of light is to make some adjustments depending on how bright the light is. The eye will usually respond when the amount of light is from 390 - 700. The eye will usually respond the most to a color that is a bit yellow-green but this will only occur under normal lighting conditions.
If you would notice, your eyes will usually recognize green from a distance even when the other colors are not immediately visible. Take note that there are also some types of light that the human eye cannot see such as infrared light and the ultraviolet light coming from the sun.
