Classical guitars can be difficult to play especially for beginners. Guitars nowadays are held by hugging it near your torso while your right forearm is resting on top of the guitar’s body. The curved side at the bottom of the guitar in a playing position is secured on your right leg. But classical guitars are held in an uncommon position.

The body of the guitar must rest on your right thigh where your body must be at a 90-degree angle to the guitar. The curved side is resting on your left leg thus a footrest is needed to provide stability and help you play it in a comfortable position.
