What is a sustainable development Act?

The phrase “sustainable development act” is a phrase to indicate that there is a law meant to help the country, county, state, etc. where it is being enforced create an environment where resources are used in ways that let them replenish before another generation needs them. These are often used to help countries meet the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This agenda was created at the United Nations Summit for Sustainable Development in 2015, and involves over 100 countries.

We have a duty to keep this planet as clean and ready as possible for our children. That’s really what these sustainable development acts are all about. If we use up all the resources, what will our children do? Big changes to the environment or a way of life are the makings of a dystopian movie, not a life that can easily be adjusted to.

A sustainable development act is typically a law adopted by a country to help them take action and implement programs to meet the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (Agenda). This Agenda was adopted by more than 150 world leaders at a United Nations Sustainable Development Summit in 2015.

This Agenda includes 17 new Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the Global Goals. Their aim is to “to end poverty, hunger and inequality, take action on climate change and the environment, improve access to health and education, build strong institutions and partnerships, and more.”
