It was in the year 1981 when Qutub Minar was closed to the tourists. There are just so many tragedies that have occurred there. Those tragedies just cannot be ignored anymore. There are a lot of people who have died because of committing suicide in the area. There was also a stampede that has occurred in the tower.

This has left a lot of people dead. This is a popular spot because this is known to be one of the Islamic monuments built in India. This is considered to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some still feel a bit disappointed that will not be open to the public anytime soon.

Essentially, because it was closed after 45 people died in a stampede. This is the tallest brick minaret in the world and lies within the Qutub complex in Delhi, India, first establshed in 1182 and now a World Heritage Site. One of the finest examples of Indo-Islamic architecture it leans sideways, rather like the tower of Pisa.

It has 379 stairs inside. Imagine being halfway up when a stampede catapults you down. Better to stay outside, like everyone else.
