Arrhythmia refers to a faulty rhythm of the heart. Symptoms include dizziness, shortness of breath, fainting and There are five types of arrhythmia. You may have a genetic vulnerability if a close family member has suffered a sudden unexplained death.

One cause of arrhythmia is if there has been damage to the heart tissue through an illness, or from a heart attack. The cause of atrial fibrillation is over-use of alcohol or being overweight. Triggers for arrhythmia include these as well as smoking, viral illnesses, caffeine and certain over-the-counter drugs. As with other health concerns, a healthy life-style is the best way of avoiding heart problems.
