A minimum ascending value of 1 is entered by default. The starting value can change, as Kratika states above. However, a maximum of one does not make sense when you are talking about decreasing; sequences can ascend and descend in a variety of intervals. Oracle has a very nice help page that is set up to help keep this straight, but I will try to recap their information briefly here. You can enter any number into the “increment by” field.

This will give the computer the ability to count by whatever increment you want - whether that’s by fives, by twos, or by hundreds. Really, the only limit here is what you put in. Otherwise, it’s all open to the computer’s interpretations.

Its not mandatory.

If we want to change the start sequence then we can.

If we want a sequence starts from 101 then we can mention start: as 101

The start value of the sequence is always 1.
