I do not think Shakespeare is overrated. Shakespeare was able to capture universal elements of being human especially human emotions in his plays. He coined many memorable phrases. Some of which became titles of books. Some of these phrases are still used till today. "Knock knock! Who is there"; "vanish into thin air" and "what's done is done" are some examples.

Shakespeare invented thousands of commonly used words, such as "amazement," "assasination", "luggage," "gossip," "addiction", "bump," and "eyeball." It is almost impossible to go a day without using a word coined by Shakespeare.

Shakespeare is considered by literary scholars as the greatest writer to ever live. Shakespeare plays are the only ones from the 16th century performed regularly today, he is definitely not overrated.

William Shakespeare is certainly not an overrated English author. Shakespeare was way before his time and delivered some of the greatest written works that have ever been produced. His imagery and the use of Old English words gave his readers a sense of what it was like to be in the presence of the story that was written. Shakespeare will always be talked about until the end of time. A lot of people will say that William Shakespeare is overrated because he is always talked about when it comes to the older playwrights and writers.

His works are always used as a benchmark when comparing the best plays that have ever been produced. One simply cannot say enough when it comes to the analyzing of Shakespeare's works. There are all of kinds of pros and cons that can be debated. The bottom line here is that William Shakespeare is not overrated because he is arguably the greatest writer that has ever lived.
