What is the correct order for the names on the spine labels of the authors?

Spine labels have no more than 5 letters on them.  In some cases, an author's name is longer than 5 letters and some spine labels will look the same even if the author's names are different.
Sandra Brown, Marie Browning, Dan Brown, Jill Conner Browne, Rita Mae Brown, Dale Brown



A. Dale Brown, Dan Brown, Jill Conner Browne, Marie Browning, Rita Mae Brown, Sandra Brown
B. Dan Brown, Dale Brown, Sandra Brown, Marie Browning, Jill Conner Browne, Rita Mae Brown
C. Dale Brown, Dan Brown, Rita Mae Brown, Sandra Brown, Jill Conner Browne, Marie Browning
D. It doesn't matter since the labels will all say BROWN.

You should first look at the last name: Brown would come before Browne or Browning. Then look at the first name and put first names alphabetically. Middle names would only be considered if the first names were the same.
