It is the larynx that produces the voice. Damage to this organ is devastating for the individual. The larynx can be affected by fear, so that 'no voice comes out' or by infection. The larynx has voice folds above it and it lies between the epiglottis and the trachea. The larynx is a vital organ to humans because of communication needs.
