A ball does not become dead automatically when the clock runs out and the buzzer sounds. If you have a try for a goal in progress when those things happen, the ball is not dead until the try has ended. B and C are dead-ball situations

The correct answer to this question is D, All of the above. A dead ball can occur after The clock runs out and the buzzer goes off, The referee blows the whistle., and when A basket is made. Dead balls are apart of the sport of basketball. Anytime the ball is stopped, the ball is considered dead.

During this time, player substitutions can be made. The official definition of the dead ball is in Section IV of the rule book. Dead balls are also apart of other sports including baseball, rugby, cricket, and football. It means the ball is not playable.
