It seems that Apple are majoring on their new haptic touch, the substitute for 3D touch. But they are going slowly because haptic touch does not work everywhere and for all functions. The XR iphone doesn't have all the features that Apple now envisage for ios products. It is the latest 3-D touch that enables nearly edge-to-edge LCD screen display, and many will want this feature.

So I see iphone XR as the latest, but perhaps temporary stage in iphone development. It might make sense to discontinue the model once haptic touch has been further developed so that it can be incorporated into iphone models. I imagine such an iphone would be a new model with a vastly increased price. That would explain why XR is currently at its lowest price.

It is very simple as to why Apple is planning on discontinuing the iPhone X. The iPhone X certainly has a nice list of specs and they are impressive. The thing is that its chief competetor in the Samsung Galaxy 8 has pretty much those same specifications but the price of the device is a lot lower than the iPhone X. This is a prime example of how business is conducted and how it matriculates. Consumers are seeing that while the brand name is certainly recongnizable with the iPhone X, they are looking for a reasonable price and they are getting that with the Samsung Galaxy 8. It is hard to say but one can certainly say that the future of the iPhone could be in doubt. It could eventually become a product that does not have the clout at Apple that it had when it first came out on the market well over a decade ago. Samsung is starting to delve into its market share.
