In 2011 Syria began its own civil war with itself. Revolutions took place prior to the civil war. When the world saw what was happening to the people in Syria, they decided to intervene. The main reason for this intervention had to do with the push from the citizens seeing the photos taken by journalists of the children who were being injured. They couldn’t escape Syria.

When the Syrian government sprayed its own citizens with poisonous gas and fumes, immediately after that the U.S. attacked Syria in one attack. Since this was done immediately after the attack, the U.S.’s motive was to help or liberate the people of Syria. The Syrian people were actually very appreciative of the U.S.’s intervention.

If the US were concerned about spreading Democracy in the Middle East, we would be helping to oust Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan, and protesting his violent suppression of human rights, rather than aiding the Free Syrian Army.

The oil-centric US government wants to be involved in Syria's outcome. The US wants to get involved in Syria to monopolize its oil assets. Sharing in Syrian oil profits would be part of quid pro quo that the US demands in exchange for helping the Syrian rebels win. The Syrian Army now has control of the oil fields near Deir Ez-Zor, and Kurdish groups have taken control of other oil fields in the region.

Many of the horrible things that Assad's government committed against unmarried women and children were in Homs, which is near one of the countries only two oil refineries
