The Mesopotamian Empire was quite large. It has been described as “an ancient region located in the eastern Mediterranean bounded in the northeast by the Zagros Mountains and in the southeast by the Arabian Plateau, corresponding to today’s Iraq, mostly, but also parts of modern-day Iran, Syria, and Turkey.

The region is also known as the Fertile Crescent because it was located between two rivers, the Tigris and Euphrates, which allowed for the surrounding land to very fertile. This allowed the people of the Mesopotamian Empire to survive because they had access to fresh water to drink and grow their crops.
