The cuneiform script was developed by ancient Sumerians of Mesopotamia around 3500-3000 BC. Cuneiform is written as a syllabary. Cuneiform originated as pictograms, it evolved into more abstract and characteristic wedge shapes formed by a blunt reed stylus on clay tablets while Hieroglyphics script was developed by ancient Egytians. It was the formal writing system used by Egyptians.

Hieroglyphics involves using pictorial symbols to represent sound as a rebuts. It has a total of 1000 distinct characters. Keep in mind that both Cuneiform and Hieroglyphics are classified as logogram which means representing words or phrases as written characters.

Both cuneiform and heiroglyphics come from a script that is also known as logography. It is essentially using symbols in order to express oneself through the written word. The big difference between cuneiform and heiroglyphics is that heiroglyphics tries to express itself with symbols but trying to be precise in what they are trying to convey. Cuneiform uses a script that is supposed to look very nice but using very simple words to say very simple things. Consonants are dominant in Cuneiform.

Cuneiform on the other hand was known to have ventured to all knids of areas all around the world. Linguists have also claimed that it takes certain skilled people who are able to translate cuneiform script. The complexity of the script is certainly one of the reasons for that being.
