This policy differs from other countries. For example, in the United States, if a child is sick, the parent can make a phone call to the school, informing them of the absence.

After their return, they would be able to make up any work missed. For prolonged absences, the teachers and/or principal may make an exception that the student doesn't have to make up any missed work.
