As you might have guessed, the US has the most, followed by China. There are 1810 billionaires worldwide. Germany has the third highest number of billionaires, which may not surprise you given their very efficient maufacturing and business methods. However, more shocking to find India the fourth largest, shocking because of the terrible poverty of huge sections of its country. Russia is fifth.
I was astonished to learn that there are over 2,500 billionaires in the world! There is a research firm called Wealth-X that compiles and releases an annual billionaire census. According to their last census, from 2018, there “are now more global billionaires than ever before, powered by a vibrant technology sector, as well as dynamic growth in the number of ultra-wealthy individuals in Asia – which, for the first time, overtook North America as the home of the most billionaires.” So for now, the country with the most billionaires is probably Hong Kong.
I did not want to download the complete report but that’s my guess.
