We are all familiar with the conventional bobby pins that help us fix our hair and create different styles. Women use them all the time and men usually have to deal with the leftovers. Usually, they are colored black, brown or golden o blend in with the hair and not be too evident. However, there are numerous other shades in the market as well.

Luis Marcus invented the statement pins and were initially meant for the bobbed hairstyles. These styles were popular in the 1920s. Since then, the pins have become an essential element in all kinds of hairstyles worn by women.

Luis Marcus is the inventor of the bobby pin which is also referred to as the hair grip, or the Kirby pin. It is a hairpin that is used to hold the hair in place. These pins happen to be plain and are colored brown, blonde, or black so as to easily blend in with most of the hair shades.

Though there are various other color combinations of bobby pins, that include yellow, pink, red, blue, and various other shades. They were very widely used to hold the bobbed hairstyles that were popular in the 1920s. Perhaps this is also where it got its name.
