TeF5 is an ionic structure that results in the formation of a lattice arrangement. The Te is bound to 5 fluorine atoms which are in turn linked to other atoms around them. Hence the entire structure takes the shape of a giant lattice with strong interconnections between separate atoms. This arrangement has a central geometry called the square pyramidal arrangement.

This is because the fluorine atoms occupy 5 positions around the central Te atom. One is above the atom while the other 4 occupy the four corners around the fluorine atom. Hence, the ultimate structure takes the shape of a pyramid.
