I don’t know if engineers and specifically IT engineers are frustrated with their lives. I think that might be a stereotype because there are people in all sorts of different fields who are frustrated with their lives and there are IT engineers who are not frustrated with their lives. I think the people who are frustrated with their lives and they all come from one field of a job it is because the job is so stressful.
These engineers are probably paid well but they have to deal with people having trouble with their computers as well as having to learn more about what the future brings in regards to technology. This can be difficult and laborious and that is probably why people quit this industry due to their frustrations.
