Touching another person intimately without their consent is now unlawful in many countries. It is usually regarded as sexually predatory: an unattractive action which is anti-social. However, such a reaction to touching can be taken to extreme, as when a man accidentally touched another, not that intimately either, and found himself imprisoned.

The reason for making sexual touching without consent unlawful is to protect individuals from sexual harassment. There are numerous cases of severe distress caused by such behaviour. The attention to this has increased since the Me Too movement of woman citing sexual harassment or far worse, mostly from those in a position more powerful than themselves.
