The question of which religion is the most liberal is difficult to answer because it depends on what definition of liberal is being considered. Is liberal being used to determine a particular religion’s interpretation of evolution? Is liberal being used to determine a tolerant and progressive acceptance of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community? Or, is liberal being used to determine a religion’s general political leanings?
For example, in the United States, white evangelical Protestants typically vote Republican while two of the most reliable religious black Protestant denominations, the African Methodist Episcopal Church and the National Baptist Convention, traditionally vote Democrat.
