How in the world has Israel managed to survive and prosper in such a hostile environment?

Israel is known to have a military, nuclear and high-tech expertise unmatched by other Arab countries in the region. Israel has also had the United States (US) as an ally for many decades. I don’t mean that the US should take credit for Israel’s survival but it has done a lot to help support and protect Israel.

For example, the US is Israel’s largest trading partner. Israel’s high-tech capabilities exist and continue to prosper because of help from the US. The US has frequently used its veto on the United Nations Security Council to protect Israel from resolutions and sanctions that could harm Israel. The US has also repeatedly worked to promote peace with Israel’s neighbors, on terms acceptable to Israel. There are other examples too.
