Albert Ellis was an American Psychologist who started his own institute in 1959. The Albert Ellis Institute is a world renowned psychotherapy training institute. One of the things that Ellis is famous for is called cognitive restructuring.

Albert Ellis coined the term Rational Emotional Therapy (RET) to express that self defeating thoughts can be changed. Ellis began developing the idea of Rational Emotive Therapy in 1955. He passed away July 24th of 2007 but his ideas about human behavior and what the human mind can do to persuade itself still live on now. The Albert Ellis Institute still functions to this day.
