The length of a year is actually 365.25 days and every four years we add a day to keep things equal

The exact length of a year is 365.25 days. We cannot represent a quarter of a day on a calendar and our days and nights would eventually become out of sync with our tracking of time. Every four years, leap year, we add a day to the calendar to keep things on track. Four quarters make a whole day.
