In 1989 protests occurred in Beijing and specifically in Tiananmen Square was organized primarily by students. The main issue at hand revolved around wanting a democratic government and allowing for more of the Chinese citizens to be able to help make decisions about the law and rules of the land. The main reason that the Chinese students wanted a democracy is because of the current Communist government. On one side were the Chinese government and a few other organizations that supported the government. On the other side was students’ and workers’ organizations.

These protests began in April and finally ended at the beginning of June when part of the army shot and killed many people. In most likelihood, this would not take place again due to the main issue at hand.
