Some studies show that an increase in military aid to communities in the form of non-lethal excess equipment (such as night-vision goggles, other gear and computers) has led to an increase in overall police department efficiency and a decrease in certain crimes such as robberies, assaults, and car thefts, but not homicides. Others fear the use of potentially lethal military equipment by communities may contribute to more overly aggressive tactics and methods by police.

Why is it necessary for police to have BDU’s (battle dress uniforms) instead of traditional blue uniforms? In addition, several police department recruitment videos try to use a militaristic angle to attract new recruits.
