Would you like to serve in your country's military and why?

Personally, I have never had a desire to serve in the military. Growing up, I have seen the effects of serving in the military, and it impacts me differently than others. Yes, it is great to serve and protect your country, but for me, the real work has been seen when my father returned home from the army.

To this day, he suffers from PTSD, and on top of that, he only has heard in one year due to the gunfire and explosions that he experienced. It is hard caring for him with these conditions, which is why I would not want to serve in the military because I do not want my daughter to have to experience what I did growing up.

I know that a lot of people would like to be given a chance to serve as part of the military if it would be needed in the future. I personally think that this will be great, but I also know that I am not physically fit to do it. I feel like I would not be one of the best people to be part of the military.

Of course, with training and more effort, I may actually become better at it. If I would be given a chance to become a part of it, I would because I know that this is not something that will be offered to everyone. Not everyone will get the chance to bring pride to one’s own country.

Since I do not like conflict, I would probably not fit in with the military’s infantry. Also, my age might be a problem. If I wanted to be in the infantry, then I would need to work out, but I think my age would pose a problem with that. I would prefer to serve in the military through another job that is not in combat.

For example, I would like to teach on a military base because that would be a way for me to serve my country while doing something that I still like to do. Possibly, when I was 18 or early 20s, I might have been able to serve in the military, but right now I couldn’t do that.
