From cost-effective data storage, easy access, and sharing information, to organizing medical tests and simulating complex surgical procedures, computers play an integral role in the medical world. It can be placed under four main categories, which include: data storage, surgical procedures, diagnostic tests, and knowledge sharing. Computers are a remarkable means for the storage of patient-related records. Hospitals employ computer systems to preserve patient records.

Computers keep track of prescriptions and billing information. They can be used to store information about the medicines prescribed to a patient, as well as a comprehensive medical history. The computer serves as the best means of storing patient data.

It cannot be denied that computers have affected people’s daily lives greatly. No matter where you look, you will know that computers somehow played a role in the changes that have occurred to the world. In the medical field, the computer made it possible to make data exchange easier.

For instance, when data needs to be sent to another doctor from a distance, the data can be sent with the use of a computer. It has also helped hospitals keep tabs on their patients more. They will know exactly if they have rooms available and they would be able to input data about the patients easily. The medical history of patients can also be placed on the computer. There are definitely a lot of changes that the computer has done.

Computers have brought about many achievements in saving lives in hospitals, ambulances and other medical facilities. Some of these computers that are used every day to save the lives of those who have sustained injuries and diseases include X-rays and scans. These are used to diagnose what is wrong with the patient. Other computers are used in communication, monitoring patients when a nurse or doctor is not in the room with the patient, storing information that is to be retrieved later and research.

However, the most helpful contribution in regards to the computers to the medical world would be those computers that are involved in the surgical procedures. This would include the Robotic Surgical System. When a patient is wheeled into emergency surgery, these computers save time so that the doctor can focus on treating the patient.
