The US secret service uses a mainframe computer system from the 1980s, and it only works 60 percent of the time. There is a company in Texas which filters chemicals, and they enter their transactions on a computer that dates from 1948. The computer is an IBM 402, which is a crucial punch computer. They employ this computer for their accounting, sales, and payroll inventory. They also use an essential keypunch machine, which is an IBM 029. The company is a sparkler's filter.

Some significant weapons systems that are used by our military runs on technology that dates back to the Vietnam era. The US navy's radar system and Britain's atomic weapons system, which retains that country's nuclear warheads, use mini-computers that were created in the 1970s. It should be noted that replacing these computers would cost a lot of money, and could also potentially disrupt national security

The oldest computer that is still being used right now is the DEC-PDP-11s. These are computers that are put up back in the 1970s. Now, decades later, they are still being used. If you would look at these computers, you can say that they are large especially when you compare them to the type of computers that we have right now.

That time when they were the newest computers, they were considered to be very impressive. People marveled about the things that they can do. This type of computer is still working right now in order to read outdated data that may be recovered from various sites. The modern computers may not be able to do that.

There are many computers that are still in use today. Many processes and procedures that were created when certain careers or plants became into existence. It seems like it would be too much trouble or it would be detrimental to replace the computer systems or even computers that have been used for so long. Examples of these include air traffic controlling systems. During the 1960s, commercial airplanes were beginning to emerge and computer systems were needed to track the airplanes.
