Who made the most significant contribution in the field of computer science?

Alan Turing was an English computer scientist, a theoretical biologist, and a mathematician. Turing is said to be the father of computer science and artificial intelligence. He has an award named after him, which is presented to someone in the computer science industry who makes a substantial contribution. He cultivated the notion of modern computers and artificial intelligence.

During World War II, he operated with the government breaking enemy codes in England. He developed a machine that helped to crack the German enigma code. Turing was very influential in the development of theoretical computer science. He provided a formalization of the concepts of algorithm and computation with the Turing machine, which can be considered as a model of a general-purpose computer.

Alexander Grahm Bell invented the telephone. He set up bell labs, and Bell labs helped developed nearly all technologies on which modern computers are based upon like transistors, integrated circuits, C language, mobile phones, cellular service provided. Bell also founded the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) in 1885.

His analysis of hearing and speech further led him to experiment with hearing devices which eventually culminated in Bell being awarded in the first US patent for the telephone in 1876. Bell considered his invention an intrusion on his real work as a scientist and refused to have the telephone in study.

He was the creator of groundbreaking work in optimal telecommunications, hydrofoils, and aeronautics. In 1875, Bell developed an acoustic telegraph and drew up a patent application for it.

Probably the names that come up as some of the most popular people who have made significant contributions to computer science would be Steve jobs and Steve Wozniak. As the founders of Apple Company along with Ronald Wayne, they grew the company to be a billion dollar business. However, this company is responsible for creating a personal computer that could be used by the average person.

Before that, only large corporations would use a computerized system. These computers would take up almost an entire room. Yet, they were very important to the companies in order for them to conduct business. Then Apple created a smaller version of the large computer that would allow the average citizen to use a computer for their own needs.
