Force Field Analysis is an effective decision-making technique that will improve the quality of your decisions and increase your chances of success. The tool was created by Kurt Lewin in the 1940s. It was originally used in Lewin's work as a social psychologist.

Today, it is used in business when making decisions. In the Force Field Analysis, situations are said to be maintained by an equilibrium with forces driving change and forces resisting change. For change to happen, the driving forces that need to be strengthened or the resisting forces need to be weakened.

Forces promoting change are greater than forces promoting the status quo.
