When something is said to be a Hamiltonian idea, it means the ideas and ideologies of Alexander Hamilton. Although Hamilton was never president, as Jefferson was the serving president during the time that Hamilton put forth most of his ideas, it is hard to imagine an America without the influence of Alexander Hamilton.

The notion of America becoming an urban manufacturing nation was a Hamiltonian notion. One thing that was not an idea of Hamilton but instead an idea of Jefferson was tthat France was the most important ally of the United States.
